TEMPORARY SANDY CREEK ROAD CLOSURE
October 4th – 8th, 2010

Effective Monday, October 4th, 2010 the portion of Sandy Creek Road located between Hood Road and the Piedmont Fayette Hospital will be closed to through traffic. The road will remain closed, day and night, for approximately five days. The purpose of the closure is to complete the tie-in of the West Fayetteville Bypass project to Sandy Creek Road.

PTC, Tyrone Post Lowest Violent Crime Rates in Metro Atlanta in 2009

A recent article in The Citizen highlights the low violent crime rates of Peachtree City and Tyrone in 2009 based on Uniform Crime Report Data released by the FBI.

Tyrone's rate was .58 incidents per 1,000 residents.

The FBI defines Part I, or violent crime, as those including murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

The Town of Tyrone is soliciting proposals from qualified financial institutions to manage the cash reserves of the Town. The Town requests proposals to be submitted in accordance with the Town of Tyrone Investment Policy. The Investment Policy shall guide financial institutions in the preparation of their proposals. Proposals shall be addressed to Town Manager, Richard Newbern at Tyrone Town Hall, 881 Senoia Road, Tyrone, GA 30290. The Town will open sealed proposals on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.

Tyrone Announces 2010 River's Alive Clean Up Event

On Saturday, November 6, 2010, the Town of Tyrone and the Fayette County Stormwater Department are partnering up to hold their annual Rivers Alive Clean-Up Event. Volunteers will meet at Tyrone Town Hall, 881 Senoia Road, at 10:00 AM. From there, supplies will be distributed and we will have a brief safety meeting.

SPLOST Ended as of March 31

Fayette County’s one-percent local sales tax passed by a referendum in 2004 will come to an end on March 31. Approval of the tax was passed by the voters in November of 2004 and has been collected to raise funds for transportation improvements. Collection of the tax, specified to be for a five year period, began on April 1, 2005 and will end on March 31, 2010.

Outdoor Burning Ban Goes Into Effect May 1

The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind all residents and developers that the outdoor burning ban will go into effect beginning May 1. No outdoor burning will be allowed until the ban is lifted on October 1. Until May 1, residents should call the automated burn permit line at 770-305-5468 to obtain a permit to burn. Developers wishing to burn debris from land clearing before May 1 should contact the department at 770-305-5414.
