The Tyrone Police Department held a sergeant promotion test and assessment panel on Wednesday April 14, 2010 to fill two open sergeant positions. The assessment consisted of a written test covering policy, law, and technique along with an oral review board made up of three lieutenants from outside agencies who interviewed the candidates and rated their responses to video based scenarios.
Four of our officers completed the assessment and the promotions were awarded to David Murphy and Anthony Munoz. Sgts. Murphy and Munoz will serve as shift supervisors on our two night shifts.
Sgt. Murphy has served with the TPD since 2005 and had prior service with the Palmetto Police Department. Sgt. Munoz has served the TPD since 2007 and had prior service in the U.S. Army and at the East Point PD.
In other agency news, Timothy Morgan was selected to fill an open patrol officer position on April 15, 2010. Morgan has 15 years of prior law enforcement service including prior service with the Tyrone Police Department from 1999 to 2001. He current serves the Toccoa Police Department and will begin working with us in early May.
