The Tyrone Police Department started its "Shop with a Cop" program in 2007 in order to give back to the community by helping area families of limited means have a brighter Christmas. The concept is simple: our staff works with the school system and other organizations to identify families in need and then raises money that is used to purchase gifts. Our officers and staff volunteer their time to take the kids shopping at area stores on a given day in December.
We also use funds from the program to fill empty stockings at the Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City. These items generally consist of slippers, pajamas, lotions, and similar items needed by the residents at Southland.
We cannot do this without financial support from our community. If you would like to help, you may send a check or money order payable to "Tyrone Shop with a Cop" to 945 Senoia Road Tyrone, Ga. 30290 or you may drop off your donations in person.
