Renovations Begin on Police Department Basement
in

After several months of planning, work has finally begun on renovations to the Police Department's basement. This project includes mold remediation (completed); foundation repairs (completed); waterproofing (completed); asbestos removal (completed); construction of four new offices, a training room, an evidence room, and holding cells; overhaul of the existing restrooms; and installation of a video security system. This project will double the usable space in our facility and the new spaces downstairs will free up space upstairs that can be used for file storage, conferences, and interviews. The overall goal is to get 5 to 10 more years out of a building that we outgrew years ago.

The basement originally housed the Town's recreation department and was rented out for parties and reunions, but it has been vacant for several years and used mostly for storage.

The Department of Justice approved the use of seized drug funds for this project, which took a significant burden off of our taxpayers; Only $7000 of taxpayer money was used on this project, which covered mold remediation.

Construction began on Monday November 23rd and is expected to take approximately 60 days. We will continue to provide updates and photos along the way.
