Citizens and Business Owners:
The Tyrone Police Department is organizing its third annual “Shop with a Cop” holiday program, designed to help underprivileged families purchase gifts and food items so that they might enjoy a brighter Christmas. The families we help are selected with the assistance of our local school system and local agencies such as DEFACS.
Once families are chosen, we will confirm that they have a valid need and then invite them to participate in our program. The children of these families will be transported to local businesses by our officers on a selected day in December to purchase gifts for themselves and their families to enjoy on Christmas Day. We will then assist the children with wrapping their gifts here at the Police Department and provide them with lunch.
If you would like to assist financially with this endeavor, you may make your donations to “Town of Tyrone Shop with a Cop” at Bank of North Georgia or bring your check to the Police Department from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
We were able to help 11 children and fill 55 empty stockings at the Southland Nursing Home with your help last year and we are excited about the opportunity to continue this program this year with your help. Our goal for 2009 is to help 15 children.
