The Tyrone Police Department held its Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday December 3, 2008 at the Tyrone Depot. This event, which was begun in 2007, is held to recognize our officers for their career achievements and for their contributions to the community.
This year's guest speaker was Sheriff Randall Johnson, who is retiring at the end of the year after serving Fayette County for 8 terms. Sheriff Johnson discussed his law enforcement experience and some of the highlights of his contributions to Fayette County. The Sheriff was presented a plaque thanking him for his service to our community.
The big awards of the night, Employee of the Year and Officer of the Year, are nominated and voted on by our officers. Administrative Officer Alicia Batts was awarded Employee of the Year and Officer Todd Ruth was our Officer of the Year for 2008.
All of our officers qualified for awards and recognition in one or more of 14 categories including educational achievement, Field Training Officer Certification, Police Commendations, Meritorious Conduct, Community Service, and Good Conduct just to name a few.
